Sushant Death Case: Rhea Chakraborty shifted from NCB office to Byculla jail

 In connection with the late actor Sushant Singh, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) had arrested actor Rhea Chakraborty on Tuesday.

 

A day after the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested her, Rhea Chakraborty was on Wednesday shifted from the anti-drug agency's office in south Mumbai to the Byculla jail.

In connection with the late actor Sushant Singh, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) had arrested actor Rhea Chakraborty on Tuesday. Later she was sent in judicial custody till September 22 by a local court.

Immediately after her arrest, the 28-year-old Rhea was taken for medical tests including COVID-19 test to the civic- run Sion hospital in Central Mumbai and her antigen test for COVID-19 came out negative

According to the news agency PTI report, she stepped out of the NCB office on Wednesday  at 10.15 am after spending the night there. She was taken to the Byculla jail by the agency officials.

Earlier, the court had rejected her bail application. The NCB had told the court that she was an "active member" of a drugs syndicate and procured drugs for Rajput, her boyfriend.

However, the NCB said it did not want her custody as it had already questioned her for three days.

She was then taken to the NCB office in south Mumbai around 7.15 pm, and produced before the court through video-conference.

Earlier, the NCB had  arrested Dipesh Sawant, the domestic help of the late actor, actor Rhea Chakraborty's brother Showik and her associate Samuel Miranda for their role in the procurement and handling of drugs. He has been arrested based on statements and digital evidence. 

Sawant was subjected to interrogation and confrontation with Showik, Samuel Miranda, Zaid, Basit Parma and Kaizan.

His statement under section 67 of the NDPS Act was recorded and on the basis of enough corroborative evidence, he has been placed under arrest under the provisions of the NDPS Act.

Zaid Vilatra, an alleged drug peddler was arrested after NCB uncovered his linkages with Abbas Lakhani, who was apprehended after a raid in which bud (curated marijuana) was seized from him.

The Esplanade Court sent actor Rhea Chakraborty's brother Showik and her associate Samuel Miranda under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in a case related to actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death, to the Narcotics Control Bureau's (NCB) custody till September 9. The cross-examination of arrested people is underway.

Meanwhile, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has examined several persons including Rajput’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty, her family members as well as the late actor’s friends, staff etc in the last one week.

The CBI had filed an FIR (First Information Repot) taking over the probe from Bihar Police into the alleged abetment to suicide case filed by the actor's father KK Singh in Patna against Sushant Rajput's friend Rhea Chakraborty and her family.

Sushant Singh's father in his complaint to Bihar Police had alleged that Chakraborty along with her family members had misappropriated Sushant Rajput's wealth, which was denied by Rhea Chakraborty in TV interviews.

The 34-year-old Rajput was found hanging in his Bandra residence in Mumbai on June 14. However, no suicide note has been recovered from Rajput's residence.

Sushant Singh Rajput was a successful film star. He debuted in the entertainment industry with the TV show ‘Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil’ and followed it up with ‘Pavitra Rishta’. 

Soon, he transitioned to the big screen with film ‘Kai Po Chhe!’ and went on to do projects including ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’, the biopic ‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’, ‘Kedarnath’ and ‘Chhichore’, among several others.
