Telangana records 1,896 new COVID-19 cases; Death toll at 1,201

Telangana registered 1,896 fresh coronavirus cases, taking the tally to 2.06 lakh while 12 more deaths pushed the toll to 1,201.

 

Telangana reported 1,896 new COVID-19 cases, taking the tally of infections to 2,06,644, a state government bulletin said on Thursday.

Meanwhile, with 12 new persons succumbing to the virus, the death toll in Telangana went up to 1201. 

As many as 2,067 persons recovered from the virus in the single day and the total recovery count climbed up to 1,79,075.

At present, there are 26,368 active cases in the state out of which 21,724 are in home/institutional isolation. 

In the last 24 hours, around 54,367 samples have been tested that include 46,885 tests on primary contacts and 6,044 on secondary contacts. While the tests reports of 1,896 turned positive, 1,363 are pending. 

According to the data, provided by the state government, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) registered 294 out of the 1,896 fresh cases, followed by Rangareddy (211), Medchal Malkajgiri (154), Nalgonda (126), Siddipet (100) and other districts.

The bulletin said 50,367 samples were tested on October 7. Cumulatively, the number of samples tested was 33,96,839. The samples tested per million population was 91,264, it added.

The cumulative recovered cases stood at 1,79,075, while 26,368 were under treatment. The recovery rate in the state rose further to 86.65 per cent, while it was 85.2 per cent in the country. The case fatality rate in the state was 0.58 per cent, while it was 1.5 per cent at the national level.

Meanwhile, with an increase of  78,524 COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the coronavirus count in India has crossed 68- lakhs mark.

In the past 24 hours, India has 78,524 coronavirus cases, taking its total count to 68,35,656.

Meanwhile, 971 patients succumbed to the deadly contagious disease, taking the fatalities count to 1,05,526.

According to the data provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of active cases in the country is  9,02,425. Meanwhile 58,27,705 persons have been cured/discharged/migrated.
