Telangana reports 2,159 fresh COVID-19 cases; death toll at 1005

Telangana added 2,159 new coronavirus cases along with 9 fatalities in the last 24 hours, taking the tally of infections in the state to over 1.65 lakh. 


Telangana reported 2,159 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 1,65,003 while nine more deaths pushed the toll to 1,005, the state government said.

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) accounted for the most number of cases with 318, followed by Rangareddy (176) and Nalgonda (141) districts, a government bulletin said on Thursday, providing data as of 8 pm on September 16.

The cumulative recovered cases stood at 1,33,555 while 30,443 were under treatment.

As many as 53,094 samples were tested on September 16. Cumulatively, 23,29,316 samples have been tested.

The case fatality rate in the state was 0.60 per cent, while it was 1.62 per cent at the national level.

The recovery rate in Telangana was 80.94 per cent, while it was 78.59 per cent in the country.

The number of individuals in home/institutional isolation was 23,674.

With an increase of 97,894 COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the coronavirus count in India has crossed 51 lakhs mark.

In the past 24 hours, India has recorded 97,894 coronavirus cases, taking its total count to 51,18,254 .

Meanwhile 1,132 patients succumbed to the deadly contagious disease, taking the fatalities count to 83,198.

According to the data provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of active cases in the country is 10,09,976. Meanwhile 40,25,080 persons have been cured/discharged/migrated.
