Telangana sees 2,176 new COVID-19 cases; Death toll at 1,070

Telangana reported 2,176  new cases along with 8 new fatalities in the last 24 hours, taking the state’s total caseload to over 1.79 lakh cases.


Telangana reported 2,176 new COVID-19 cases, pushing the tally of positive infections to 1,79,246, while the death toll rose to 1,070 with eight more fatalities.

Out of the 2,176 fresh cases, 308 were recorded in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), followed by Rangareddy (168), Medchal Malkajgiri (151), Nalgonda (136), Karimnagar (120) and other districts, a government bulletin said on Thursday, providing data as of 8 pm on September 23.

As per the data, the cumulative recovered cases stood at 1,48,139, while 30,037 were under treatment. The recovery rate in the state rose further to 82.64 per cent, while it was 81.42 per cent in the country.

The case fatality rate in the state was 0.59 per cent, while it was 1.59 per cent at the national level.

Meanwhile, with an increase of 86,508 COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the coronavirus count in India has crossed 57- lakhs mark. 

In the past 24 hours, India has recorded 86,508 coronavirus cases, taking its total count to 57,32,519 .

Meanwhile 1,129 patients succumbed to the deadly contagious disease, taking the fatalities count 91,149.

According to the data provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of active cases in the country is 9,66,382. Meanwhile 46,74,988 persons have been cured/discharged/migrated.
