Telangana sees 2,296 new COVID-19 cases; Death toll at 1,062

Telangana reported 2,296 new cases along with 10 new fatalities in the last 24 hours, taking the state’s total caseload to over 1.77 lakh cases.


Telangana reported 2,296 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 1,77,070, while nine more deaths pushed the toll to 1,062.

Out of the 2,296 cases, 321 were reported in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), followed by Rangareddy 217, Medchal Malkajgiri 173, Nalgonda 155, Karimngar 136 and other districts, a state government bulletin said on Wednesday, providing data as of 8 PM on September 22.

The cumulative recovered cases stood at 1.46 lakh, while 29,873 were under treatment. The recovery rate in the state rose further to 82.52 per cent, while it was 81.23 per cent in the country.

The case fatality rate in the state was 0.59 per cent, while it was 1.59 per cent at the national level.

The bulletin said, 55,892 samples were tested on September 22. Cumulatively, the number of samples tested was 26.28 lakh. The samples tested per million population was 70,809.

Meanwhile, with an increase of 83,347 COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the coronavirus count in India has crossed 56 lakhs mark. 

In the past 24 hours, India has recorded 83,347 coronavirus cases, taking its total count to 56,46,011.

Meanwhile 1,085 patients succumbed to the deadly contagious disease, taking the fatalities count to  90,020.

According to the data provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of active cases in the country is 9,68,377. Meanwhile 45,87,614 persons have been cured/discharged/migrated.
