Three “real accused” in Varappzuzha violence case surrender

South India

KOCHI: The actual culprits in the Varappuzha violence case culminating in the custodial death of Srjeeith have surrendered in the court on Saturday.

The three, who surrendered in a court at Aluva, have been identified as Vipin (28), Ajith K B (25) and Sreejith alias Thulasidas (23). They informed the court that Sreejith, who died in the police custody last month, was not involved in the attack on the house of Vaudevan.

Sreejith was arrested following the suicide by Vasudevan and the police had taken Sreejith into custody after fabricating evidence against him. Aluva Rural Superintendent of Police A V George handed over the documents fabricated by the police to implicate Sreejith in the case to the investigating officer.

Meanwhile, the family of Sreejith has received a letter threatening to kill the deceased Sreejith’s brother, who was also falsely arrested in connection with the attack on the house of Vasudevan.

The letter purported to have been written by the Thiruvananthapuram Rural Shadow Squad members Jayan, Sunil Lal, Suvin and Shibu, says Sreejith's brother may 'face the same fate' if the complaint against the three Rural Tiger Force officials are not withdrawn.

The family had earlier received threat letters asking them to drop the case against the accused police officials. A probe was on to find the veracity and source of all the threat letters. Five police officials including Paravur circle inspector Crispin Sam, Varappuzha sub-inspector G S Deepak and three Rural Tiger Force members were arrested in connection with the custodial death of Sreejith.
