Three persons of a family among four were killed and one sustained serious injuries when the car in which they were travelling hit a truck in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh on Sunday morning.

They were on their way to Nellore from Bengaluru when the accident took place in Bangarupalyam.

The deceased have been identified as 55-year-old Srinivasula Reddy, his wife Rathnamm (49) and their Venkatesh Reddy (29).  The identity of a mobike rider who was also killed in the mishap could not be identified.

Srinivasulu's daughter-in-law, Sirshna, was critically injured in the accident and was shifted to a hospital.

They are from Kundanahalli in Bengaluru and were enroute Nellore city, in their car. The accident took place when a truck travelling in the same direction ahead of their car hit a two-wheeler following which the truck driver applied sudden break.

Reddy’s car, which behind the truck, rammed into the truck killing three people on the spot. The vehicle damaged almost completely in the impact.

The motorcyclist also succumbed to the injuries.
