To refresh minds of COVID patients, books and music introduced in COVID-19 wards in Thiruvananthapuram Medical College

In an attempt to provide relief and refresh the minds of the COVID patients, the state health department has now decided to install FM Radio and libraries in the COVID-19 wards

 

The initiative that has already begun in the Trivandrum medical college COVID-19 wards. 

New wards of the Medical College Hospital are equipped with music systems including a 24-hour FM channel and a library, which will be open throughout the day.  The new wards have 50 beds each. 

"The move comes after the doctors noticed that the patients were suffering from mental stress due to their isolation. As a result, the authorities decided to treat the patients in the newly renovated wards in an environment where the patients are mentally happy," Health Department official quoted by News agency ANI as saying.

Accoring to the Times Now report, the project gained momentum after health minister KK Shylaja supported the idea that was put forwards by Medical College principal Sara Varghese, Superintendent Dr. MS Sharmad, deputy superintendent Dr Baby John, Dr Sunil Kumar and RMO Dr Mohan Roy.

In coming days more wards will be upgraded with these facilities will be replicated in other districts. 
 
Kerala recorded its highest single-day spike in the number of coronavirus cases on Wednesday. 152 persons tested positive for the virus in the state, taking the total number of coronavirus cases to 3,603. Of them, 1,691 are active cases.
