Two militants killed in encounter with security forces in J-K's Anantnag district


Two unidentified militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.


According to the police report, security forces launched a cordon and search operation at Waghama in Anantnag district in south Kashmir this morning after receiving specific information about the presence of militants in the area.

As per the report, the search operation turned into an encounter after militants fired upon a search party of the forces, who retaliated.

According to the official report, the identity and group affiliation of the slain militants was being ascertained.

One INSAS rifle and a pistol have been recovered from the terrorists killed in the encounter.

Taking to microblogging site Twitter, Chinar Corps, Indian Army said the operation is over now.

"Op Wagahom (#Anantnag). Operation update. 02 terrorists eliminated. 01 INSAS & 01 Pistol recovered. Op took place in a hide in an orchard. Both were killed after a brief firefight. Good drills ensured zero collateral damage. Op over," it tweeted.

This is second encounter in Anantnag district in as many days. 

On Monday, three militants were killed in the gun battle with security forces at Khulchohar area of the district.
