Wedding ceremonies to be allowed at Guruvayur Sreekrishna temple from Thursday

Wedding ceremonies will be conducted at Guruvayoor Sreekrishna temple from Thursday.


The Guruvayur Devaswom will make arrangements for marriages at the temple’s mandapams. 

The Devaswom committee took the decision after getting green signal from the government.

On Tuesday, a meeting held at the Thrissur Collectorate and guidelines for conducting marriage were prepared.

Guruvayur MLA K V Abdul Khader, Devaswom chairman K B Mohandas, Thrissur district collector S Shanavas and district police chief R Adithya were attended the meeting.

The Devaswom said a marriage group should not have more than 10 people, including the bride and the groom.

As per the report, only 60 wedding will be allowed in a day from 5 am to 12 noon.

The booking counter will be opened at the book stall at East Nada from 10 am to 7 pm. will provide photographers.

Those who intend to participate in the marriage ceremony will have to provide photo identity cards and the non-quarantine, non-history certificates issued by the medical officer.

The marriage groups will be allowed to go to the mandapams as per the timings given in the booking tokens. The mandapam will be sanitised after each marriage.

There will be no marriages on Sundays till the COVID-19 curfew is in place.

Weddings were stopped at the temple, due to the COVID-19 lockdown that was in place since March 24.

The Centre on Saturday issued a detailed guidelines for lockdown 5.0 Unlock 1.0. 

It has allowed the opening of religious places of worship for public, hotels, restaurants and other hospitality services, shopping malls from June 8. There will be, however, no relaxation in Containment zones till June 30.
