With 22,252 new cases, India's COVID-19 count crosses 7 lakh mark

India's COVID19 case tally, on Tuesday, crossed 7 lakh mark with 22,252 new cases in the last 24 hours.

 

Total positive cases in the country stand at 7,19,665 including 2,59,557 active cases. 4,39,948 people have been cured/ discharged/ migrated. 

Meanwhile, with an increase of 467 deaths in the last 24 hours, the number of deaths in the country due to COVID-19 has risen 20,160.

As India is attempting to flatten the curve of the novel coronavirus, some states are continuing to see a steady rise in cases.

According to the data provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare,  Maharashtra continues to be the most impacted state from the infection with 2,11,987 cases and 9,026 fatalities due to the virus. while 87,699 of these are active cases, 1.15 lakh people have been discharged/ cured. 

Tamil Nadu and Delhi are among other states which have been severely hit by the global pandemic. 

Coronavirus, which originated in China's Wuhan city in December last year, has so far spread to more than 200 countries. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared coronavirus a pandemic.
