With 37,975 new cases, India’s COVID-19 tally nears 92-lakh mark

This is the 17th  consecutive day when India reported less than 50,000 cases in a day. The last time daily new cases crossed the 50,000-threshold was on November 7.

 

With 37,975 new COVID-19 infections reported in the last 24 hours, India's total coronavirus cases nearing to 92 -lakh mark.

The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) on Tuesday said that India's total coronavirus cases surged to 91,77,841.

Meanwhile, 480 patients succumbed to the deadly contagious disease, taking the fatalities count to 1,34,218. 

According to the data provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of active cases in the country is 4,38,667. Meanwhile at  86,04,955 persons have been cured/discharged/migrated.

Maharashtra continues to be on the top in the list of worst-COVID affected states with 82,915 active cases, followed by Kerala with 64,292 active cases.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 10,99,545 samples were tested on Monday while 13,36,82,275 samples have been tested so far.

Coronavirus, which originated in China's Wuhan city in December last year, has so far spread to more than 200 countries. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared coronavirus a pandemic.
