With 38,772 new cases, India's COVID-19 tally crosses 94-lakh mark

This is the 23rd  consecutive day when India reported less than 50,000 cases in a day. The last time daily new cases crossed the 50,000-threshold was on November 7.

 

With 38,772  new COVID-19 infections reported in the last 24 hours, India's total coronavirus cases crossed 94-lakh mark.

The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) on Monday said that India's total coronavirus cases surged to 94,31,692.

Meanwhile, 443 patients succumbed to the deadly contagious disease, taking the fatalities count to 1,37,139. 

According to the data provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of active cases in the country is 4,46,952. Meanwhile at  88,47,600 persons have been cured/discharged/migrated.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the total number of tests for COVID-19 conducted in the country reached 14,03,79,976, of these, 8,76,173 COVID-19 tests were done yesterday.

Coronavirus, which originated in China's Wuhan city in December last year, has so far spread to more than 200 countries. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared coronavirus a pandemic.
