With 44,059 new cases, India’s COVID-19 cases crosses 91-lakh mark

This is the 16th  consecutive day when India reported less than 50,000 cases in a day. The last time daily new cases crossed the 50,000-threshold was on November 7.

 

With 44,059 new COVID-19 infections reported in the last 24 hours, India's total coronavirus cases surged to 91 - lakh mark.

The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) on Monday said that India's total coronavirus cases surged to 91,39,866.

Meanwhile, 511 patients succumbed to the deadly contagious disease, taking the fatalities count to 1,33,738. 

According to the data provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of active cases in the country is 4,43,486. Meanwhile at  85,62,641 persons have been cured/discharged/migrated.

Maharashtra has 80,878 active coronavirus cases, the highest in the country, followed by Kerala with 66,982 and Delhi with 39,741.

The country is reporting around 30,000 to 47,000- daily new cases for the past some days. Today is the sixteenth day when India reported less than 50,000 cases in a day. The last time daily new cases crossed the 50,000-threshold was on November 7.

Coronavirus, which originated in China's Wuhan city in December last year, has so far spread to more than 200 countries. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared coronavirus a pandemic.
