With 44,376 new cases, India’s COVID-19 tally crosses 92-lakh mark

This is the 18th  consecutive day when India reported less than 50,000 cases in a day. The last time daily new cases crossed the 50,000-threshold was on November 7.

 

With 44,376 new COVID-19 infections reported in the last 24 hours, India's total coronavirus cases crossed 92 -lakh mark.

The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) on Wednesday said that India's total coronavirus cases surged to 92,22,217.

Meanwhile, 481 patients succumbed to the deadly contagious disease, taking the fatalities count to 1,34,699. 

According to the data provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of active cases in the country is 4,44,746. Meanwhile at  86,42,771 persons have been cured/discharged/migrated.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 11,59,032 samples were tested on Tuesday while 13,48,41,307 samples have been tested so far.

Coronavirus, which originated in China's Wuhan city in December last year, has so far spread to more than 200 countries. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared coronavirus a pandemic.
