With 45,209 new cases, India’s COVID-19 tally reaches 90.95-lakh mark

This is the 15th  consecutive day when India reported less than 50,000 cases in a day. The last time daily new cases crossed the 50,000-threshold was on November 7.

 

With 45,209 new COVID-19 infections reported in the last 24 hours, India's total coronavirus cases surged to 90.95- lakh mark.

The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) on Sunday said that India's total coronavirus cases surged to 90,95,807.

Meanwhile, 501patients succumbed to the deadly contagious disease, taking the fatalities count to 1,33,227. 

According to the data provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of active cases in the country is 4,40,962. Meanwhile at 85,21,617 persons have been cured/discharged/migrated.

Maharashtra has 80,878 active coronavirus cases, the highest in the country, followed by Kerala with 66,982 and Delhi with 39,741.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 13,17,33,134 samples tested for COVID-19 up to 21st November, of these, 10,75,326 samples were tested yesterday.

Coronavirus, which originated in China's Wuhan city in December last year, has so far spread to more than 200 countries. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared coronavirus a pandemic.
