With 48,648 new cases, India's COVID-19 tally reaches 80,88,851

With an increase of 48,648 COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the coronavirus count in India has crossed 80.88- lakhs mark.  

 

In the past 24 hours, India has 48,648 coronavirus cases, taking its total count 80,88,851.

Meanwhile, 563 patients succumbed to the deadly contagious disease, taking the fatalities count to 1,21,090. 

According to the data provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of active cases in the country is 5,94,386. Meanwhile 73,73,375 persons have been cured/discharged/migrated.

A total of 10,77,28,088 samples have been tested for COVID-19 up to October 29. Of these 11,64,648 samples were tested Thursday, as per the Indian Council of Medical Research.

Coronavirus, which originated in China's Wuhan city in December last year, has so far spread to more than 200 countries. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared coronavirus a pandemic.

India became the second worst-affected country by the coronavirus pandemic in the world. The United States is the worst-affected country across the globe.
