With a spike of 62,212 cases, India's COVID-19 tally reaches 74-lakhs mark

With an increase of 62,212 COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the coronavirus count in India has crossed 74- lakhs mark.

 

In the past 24 hours, India has 62,212coronavirus cases, taking its total count 74,32,681.

Meanwhile, 837patients succumbed to the deadly contagious disease, taking the fatalities count to 11,12,998. 

According to the data provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of active cases in the country is 7,95,087 . Meanwhile 65,24,596 persons have been cured/discharged/migrated.

With 1,90,192 total active cases, Maharashtra continues to be the worst affected state by COVID-19 in the country.

While 13,44,368 patients have recovered from the disease in the state, 41,502 have died so far.

Among other severely affected states, Karnataka has 1,12,446 active cases, while 6,28,588 people have recovered, 10,356 have succumbed to the coronavirus.

Coronavirus, which originated in China's Wuhan city in December last year, has so far spread to more than 200 countries. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared coronavirus a pandemic.

India became the second worst-affected country by the coronavirus pandemic in the world. The United States is the worst-affected country across the globe.
