With spike of 36,469 cases, India's COVID-19 tally reaches 79,46,429

With an increase of 36,469 COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the coronavirus count in India has crossed 79.46- lakhs mark.  

 

In the past 24 hours, India has 36,469 coronavirus cases, taking its total count 79,46,429.

Meanwhile, 488  patients succumbed to the deadly contagious disease, taking the fatalities count to 1,19,502. 

According to the data provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of active cases in the country is 6,25,857. Meanwhile 72,01,070 persons have been cured/discharged/migrated.

With 1,34,657 total active cases, Maharashtra continues to be the worst affected state by COVID-19 in the country. While 14,70,660 patients have recovered from the disease in the state, 43,348 have died so far.

Among other severely affected states, Kerala has 93,848 active cases, while 3,02,017 patients have been cured so far in the state along with 1,352 deaths reported due to the disease.

Karnataka has 75,442 active cases, while 7,19,558 people have recovered and 10,947 have succumbed to the coronavirus.

Coronavirus, which originated in China's Wuhan city in December last year, has so far spread to more than 200 countries. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared coronavirus a pandemic.

India became the second worst-affected country by the coronavirus pandemic in the world. The United States is the worst-affected country across the globe.
