With spike of 64,553 cases, India's COVID-19 tally reaches 24,61,191

With the spike of 64,553 COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, India's coronavirus tally reached 24,61,191 on Friday.

 

Meanwhile, 1007 patients succumbed to the deadly contagious disease in the last 24 hours, taking the fatalities count to 48,040.

According to the data provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of active cases in the country is 6,61,595. Meanwhile, 17,51,556 persons have been cured/discharged/migrated.

As many as  8,48,728 samples were tested on August 13 which is the highest in a single day so far.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Over 2.76 crore samples have been tested so far.

Coronavirus, which originated in China's Wuhan city in December last year, has so far spread to more than 200 countries. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared coronavirus a pandemic.
