AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday has decided to extend ‘Amma Odi’ ( Mother’s Lap) Scheme to intermediate (Plus Two) students also.
Initially, the educational scheme had aimed to ensure education for every poor kid till Class 10 by providing monetary incentive.
The decision was finalised by Reddy at a meeting of education department officials called by him on Thursday to discuss measures which could benefit the students' community.
‘Amma Odi’ is the prestigious welfare scheme of the YSRCP government. Under this scheme, every woman of a 'below poverty line' household is provided Rs 15,000 per annum if she sends her son or daughter to school.
