THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor on Monday rejected all the prediction of exit polls and added that he will wait until May 23 for the real result.
Citing an example of election results in Australia, Tharoor said 56 different exit polls were proved wrong.
“I believe the exit polls are all wrong. In Australia last weekend, 56 different exit polls proved wrong. In India, many people don’t tell pollsters the truth fearing they might be from the Government. Will wait till 23rd for the real results”, he tweeted.
On Sunday, most exit polls forecast a majority for the ruling BJP-led NDA in Lok Sabha polls 2019.
Elections to 543 seats of the Lok Sabha ended on Sunday.
According to the two exit polls telecast by Times Now, the NDA got 296 and 306 seats. Meanwhile, they projected 126 and 132 for the Congress-led UPA.
As per he CVoter-Republic exit poll, it has forecast 287 seats for NDA and 128 seats for UPA.
According to Neta-News X, the National Democratic Alliance could fall short of the majority and win 242 seats. It gave the UPA 164 seats
As per News 18 forecast, the NDA will win 292-312 seats while it gave 62-72 seats for the UPA.
However, many news channels are yet to give a final figure.
Voting for the 543 Lok Sabha seats were held in seven phases: April 11, April 18, April 23, April 29, May 6, May 12 and May 19.
Counting of the votes will be done on May 23.
