KOCHI: Three more people have come forward with complaints of cheating against P Satheeshan, brother of former Communist Party of India (Marxist) Kannur district secretary P Sasi, following his arrest in a job fraud case.

The three alleged that Satheeshan had taken money from them by offering jobs in the Kannur Airport being built in the joint sector. Satheeshan was taken into custody on May 4 after two women staged a protest in front of Kasaba police station at Kozhikode for not taking action against their complaints that Satheeshan had cheated them by offering jobs in government bodies.

One of the complainants said that she had given him Rs.2.5 lakhs after he promised that he will get a job to her son in the cooperative department under the dying in harness scheme. She said that she gave the money after Satheeshan claimed he was close to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and CPI (M) state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan.

According to the woman, Sateeshan had impressed her by pretending to talk on his mobile phone with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and other top party leaders. When the promised job did not materialize she demanded the money back. However, Satheeshan was evasive.

The chief minister refused to comment on the case though the cheating had taken place in his name. However, the party secretary sought to distance from the case saying that Satheeshan was not a member of the party.

Satheeshan’s brother Sasi too washed his hands off the matter saying that he had no connection with his brother for the last two decades. Sasi, who had served as political secretary of former chief minister E K Nayanar, himself had landed in trouble after a woman party member accused him of sexual misbehavior.

He was expelled from the party following the complaint. However, a court in Kasargod recently dismissed the case against him after police filed a report saying that the allegation was baseless.
