THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's chief principal secretary Nalini Netto resigned on Tuesday.
As per the report, she resigned from the post of chief principal secretary due to differences with senior officials in the Chief Ministers office.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had requested Nalini Netto to continue in her post till the end of the Lok Sabha polls, even though she handed over the resignation letter to him.
Nalini Netto was in a 'cold-war' with the political secretary and several senior officials at the CM's office.
As per the rule, the important files should be sent to the chief minister through Nalini Netto after her perusal. Initially, this instruction was followed but later certain complicated files were not shown to her, some top leaders in the CM’S office took the decision over the files.
She had reportedly cautioned chief minister that officials handling such crucial files could end up facing corruption charges.
The differences that cropped up in CMO were often resolved by CM’s former private secretary M V Jayarajan. He acted as the peacemaker during such situations.
It is important to mention that Netto's resignation comes close on the heels Jayarajan being appointed as the CPM Kannur district secretary.
She submitted her resignation letter on Tuesday noon. However, it is not clear if Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has accepted her resignation.
The 1981 batch IAS officer Nalini Netto was appointed as State Chief Secretary and took the office on 1 April 2017, from incumbent S. M. Vijayanand, who vacated on 31 March on superannuation.
She is the 42nd head and 4th women head of the state bureaucracy.
