CHENNAI:  The state government extended the term of Justice Arumughaswamy enquiry commission, probing the death of former Chief Minister J.Jayalalithaa, for another four months.

The Edappadi K Palaiswami-led government appointed retired High Court judge Arumughaswamy as the head of the commission to probe the death of J Jayalalithaa on September 25, 2017.

As the commission could not complete the enquiry, the state government has extended the tenure of the commission twice in December 2017 and June 2018.

It is the third extension for the commission. So far, the commission has inquired about 150 witnesses.
