NEW DELHI: Mithali Raj became the first woman cricketer to play 200 one-day internationals on Friday.
The ongoing third ODI against New Zealand marks the 200th appearance of the Indian Women’s ODI team skipper.
She made her One Day International debut in 1999 against Ireland and scored unbeaten 114 runs. She made her Test debut in the 2001–02 season against South Africa.
Indian women have played a total of 263 ODI’s in their history and the 36-year-old Mithali has been a part of 200 of them.
She is a right-hand batsman and highest run scorer in ODI among women cricketers with a total of 6613 runs and bagged seven hundred's and 52 half centuries till now.
She had played her first ODI at the age of 16 years. She gave a stellar and match-winning performance in the following ODIs too.
In June 2018 during the 2018 women’s Twenty20 Asia cup, she became the first player from India to score 2000 runs in T20Is, and also became the first woman cricketer to reach 2000 WT 201 runs.
Mithali is serving the game for more than 19 years and currently leading the Indian team in the three-match one day series against New Zealand.
