SAN FRANCISCO: Instagram co-founder Kevin Systrom, in his first public appearance since leaving the photo-sharing app has said, "There are obviously reasons for leaving. No one ever leaves a job because everything is awesome".
He added that he felt comfortable moving on because it was already on a path to broader success at the parent company, Facebook Inc.
“It didn’t feel done by any stretch of the imagination, but it felt like it was in orbit, if we let go and let others take it, we got more than 1 billion users and I am proud of the business we built” Systrom said on stage at the Wired25 conference in San Francisco.
Systrom said now he is spending time with his 9-month-old daughter, helping startups he has invested in and thinking about the next company he might build.
Systrom and co-founder Mike Krieger left Instagram last month. They joined the company at a time when Facebook's core platform was under pressure for safeguards customer data.
